Road Kill ?

SD Game Fish and Parks requested me to get this elk out of some heavy timber and it was supposed to have been hit by a car.?
In field dressing it I did not see any damage on the animal at all so I don't know what the deal was.
I stalked to about 50' and one shot with my Glock 45 cal. and it was down. OH and they took the horns and meat ummmmmmm
(See picture below. Thanks, grayghost)

ok, so who is the german hunter among you? i noticed the last bite of grass in the elk's mouth.

whats the matter, don't game, fish and parks trust their officers with guns? why didn't they shoot it?

did you package the meat for them?

Well the grass came in when we were pulling it up to the truck and as far as the shooting goes = GF&P missed it once with the rifle. Now thats funny stuff !!!!!!

Thumbs up

That's a good bull Nulle! If no damage to the Elk was evident, I surely wouldn't eat the meat unless it were tested. It could have been sick. Here in TN a road kill can belong to the finder or person who's vehicle collided with it. You must call the G&F within 48 hours to report it. There are some restrictions but basically it's yours to keep. Don't think it would apply to our Elk as they are within our restoration program and are not currently listed as game. Won't be long though. Then the real lottery begins Good story, let us know if they find out anything. grayghost

Elk was ok other then being injured by the car.
They most often let the person that hits a deer with a car have it but Not elk lol
