I love Cold Steel ......

However, for what you're thinking of using it for, there are many other knives to choose from. That little "trinket" is actually too small for my tastes.

Compare it to Buck, Gerber, Columbia River, Benchmade (if they aren't too expensive), Kershaw, etc.

Also pay particular attention to the "Chive" if you can handle @$50 price.

For a cheapie/box cutter, I once went through about three or four Victorox Swiss Army "Pocket Pals." Twenty years ago they sold for $8-$8.50. Blade sharpened up quite well!

Don't forget to shop on eBay. You might find a real bargain.

Actually the best overall price I found for it was at Smokey Mountain Knife works ($12+) The reason I am looking at the Urban pall is that it is not unusual for me to have to cut network cable, boxes, cables ties, rope, etc etc etc on any given day of work. I thought about their Hai Hocho (sp?) but they no longer make them and for some reason the people who still have them for sale think they are made of freakin gold or something. At $12 I can afford to lose the urban pal should it ever happen, and if by some miracle I should ever break it through missuse etc then again its $12+.

As for puncturing torsos lets hope it never comes to that gregarat.

I know alot of people don't seem to like cold steel, but I have yet to see one fail. I was just wondering if anybody had any really good or really bad experiences with one

Brant price is what drove me away from that whole list of others. Like I said it is going to be a work blade, so *shrug*

i own one, and honestly i dont use it. It is a neat little knife, but if you are looking for a box cutter and all around knife, might want to look into the Boker Magnum Subcom. Its AUS-8 and has some great ergos. The 420j2 blade of the urban pal wont hold an edge as long and w/ it being a full SE it might be harder for you to sharpen.
hope that helps some.

Cold Steel

Have had one or two of them. Have one left right now. Both were a POS. Wouldn't hold an edge and were extremely hard to sharpen. Don't carry a knife too much now but I did for more than 30 yrs for my various types of work and play. Buck was about as good as any!. My last Buck use for anything finally broke. The blade came apart right near the handle.

Yeah I am saving up for a good folder instead anyway. Those were about the average responses I was finding out there on the web.
