another paypal hit
To keep reminding people of scams or those that just joined HC that aren't aware of past posts on this subject, I wanted to post this. I got another E-mail saying my paypal account had been charged $229 to some wholesale place. If I didn't authorize the charge to log on and report it. BUT without doing so, I clicked on that link and sure enough reading the address bar, it didn't show www.paypal but it showed www.paypaz or something of the sort.
So read the address bars before sending a reply. Also, my card info had expired at original paypal and I sent a copy of the e-mail to the real paypal site for investigation. Keep alert out there....read the address bars...this is how I first noticed the scam before I opened my original paypal account.......or they would have got me....The mail also looked exactly like the original paypal site. I tend to believe that those certain people that seem to be in charge of most of our banking (without slamming anyone, I think we know who I mean) have been up to stealing our finances. And reroute our accounts. I have been 55 days in resolving a transaction between a bank to bank check that got lost in the USPost office mail....guess who I have to speak with! I even at times have to ask for an English speaking person so I can understand them....I think this is one reason some of us are getting hit in the finance mix ups...they route our funds to their accounts....why not....they are in charge of them...how convenient!......Keep alert all.....read your address bars before sending.

Glad you figured them out Before you sent your info out!
Just remember Skeeter, that Almost None of the Real institutions (Banks, Paypal, Ebay, Credit Car Companies, Etc.) will contact you Via Email, and/or ask you for your "Log-in" or "Password"...... When in doubt, contact the institution's Website, or Phone them directly. You can, generally, forward a "Questionable" email directly to their customer service department to be sure. Just do this >FIRST!<...before you do something that you'll regret later. Tall Shadow

I been gettin those same emails...most of em are to update my account...etc...i wonder how they know i even have an account...hmmmmm

They have no idea whether or not you have a paypal account. They just send those things out to everybody they possibly can and they try to get lucky. Heck, I have been receiving e-mails from people telling me that they can get more exposure for my site, huntchat.com, through google and other search engines. I just have to laugh. I also get e-mails from all kinds of banks. One was even from a bank that was offering a really good loan, but to apply you had to log in with your social security number to get a password. The initial web page looked pretty legit, but when I started clicking on links within that page, things looked pretty crappy.

Oh for sure the update account E-mails never stop...whew, just can't trust anyone...I said in the past a friend of mine owned a store and I would run her to the bank now and then. She would put her deposit in her bra and told me those are the only 2 suckers she trusted with her money..lol..

I get them from paypal spoofs AND from ebay spoofs all the time. It is the one point in which I will actually take time to report them ALL to paypal or ebay whichever one they are spoofing.

Yep..They'lle try to get you
It is called phishing..please send copies of these emails with the actual address they came from to paypal when you get them. That helps them fight this kind of thing and by all means check your addresses. Paypal WILL NOT ask you for sensative information such as passwords etc., so that that should be a tip that something is phishy (no pun intended
 ) right there is the address is not a dead giveaway..BY ALL MEANS BE CAREFUL..Some people even advise using a separate account for your paypal transactions..just to be safe.
