Recipe

Anybody got a recipe for turtle soup? I haven't had turtle soup since I left home. And I just got the hankering.

It was a staple at home during the lenten season, and yes I am a mackerel snapper. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays were meatless days in those times.

My God, we all starved to death.

I had some old buddies that used to make it once a year, about this time. I worked on farms and would run into some turtles through the year and would give them to these guys, they'd clean them and when we had abuot a dozen we'd all get together for a turtle feed. I've long since lost these friends, and their recipe.

I'll look through my old cook books, I'm pretty sure I have a recipe or two from an old wildgame cookbook that a church in Northern MN put together many years ago. I'll post it when I find it.
