Eastern Outdoors Sports Show
I think I'll be heading down on the 5th (Monday) this year. I have a few new clients and buddies I have to meet, so let me know if you're going to be there on the 5th and I'll say hello. The place is so big and crowded, you better make plans on a place to meet.
Also for those of you that never have attended and want to, I HIGHLy suggest buying e-tickets. You'll be pretty upset when you have to wait in a line 5 rows wide and stretching the whole way around the building as you watch us e-ticketers walk right in!

I don't know what day my free ride is going this year. That worked out so well last year that no matter what day they go, I'll be riding with the archery nuts. It sorta makes good coversation when you have a long range shooter in the car with 3 archery hunters for a 3 1/2 hr ride one way. They don't know it but I've probably killed more deer with a bow than any of them. I just figure it makes the trip shorter to have all that conversation about skills, ethics and such. One of them even bought a cough silencer last year. Now that tells you something about him. Anyhow, I got off topic, not too hard these days, but I need some booth numbers off of you Petey so give me a shout.

I'll get the booth numbers from the guys. If I can recall off hand, Kevin Hammelland his crew will be in the North room, Lamont's in Main.
I have to contact all of the the others (but I have a couple weeks) and I'm still waiting on the info from the Ohio crew for 2007. Applications have been received, deadline was yesterday so we should know about our draw in early Feb. I'll let you know

Petey,
How big is this show? I think I heard that is was second only to SHOT Show, but I can't remember where or when I heard that. This show is also more a show for consumers, right? I'm just wondering if this is something we should consider adding to our trade show schedule in the future. GSG |

Yup,
It's pretty big. Largest in the East from what I've heard and probably a show that you should attend. I'm sure you'd sell a lot of products at a show like this. I think it's around $700 a booth??

Wow, that's not bad. If we could sell product there, we could probably make that back easily and then some.
I'll have to think about adding that to next years schedule. I think my feet should have recovered from SHOT Show by then. Thanks, GSG |

Oh I have no doubt you'd sell your product there. It's big enough that a guy can't see it all in one day if he actually stopped at each booth. I have some clients that attend only this show to sell their hunts for next year and do so easily. It's more of a sit in your booth and plug your product, than walk around to see all of the other vendor's stuff. It's open to the consumer at $10 a head, $5 parking if you get there before 10, you can get into the main lot. It's definitly getting even bigger. I think the square footage has doubled since the new addition. Even that big, by noon on Wednesday last year, you were just walking with the crowd!
If you don't like people, it's not a place to be....but there's tons to see. ANd I never forgot to miss the Skoal girls to get my picture taken with them. Those and the Busch Beer girls I'm taking my 4 yr old this year, so we may have to skip the "fun" stops this year and go look at all the animals and catch some trout in the fishing pond. Plenty for the whole family to do, even if you're not a hunter/fisherman.

GSG, It would for sure give your slingers exposure. If you are considering next year you probably should start early though. An outfitter friend of mine tried for three years before he got space but since they have enlarged it might not be that bad now. He used to do several shows but now manages to keep his lodge full just by repeat customers and the new ones he picks up at this show.

Rubicon,
Good idea. I'll look into it and see if they are setting up space for next year yet. I'll have to check dates because I know SHOT Show has been moved back to February next year. GSG |
