30 cal. SMc cartidges

Rocky, you mentioned you were working with an SMc cartridge, is there an SMc 30 caliber that would produce the same velocity as the 300 magnums?

They are testing a .30 SMc now.

The problem is available cases and the difficulty of reforming them to SMc dimensions.

Suitable cases have to have an exact diameter and length for the geometry of the focused primer shock waves to work properly. As the caliber gets larger, so must the case. For the .30-cal I think they're up in the Rigby zone of case size.

Finished cases are short and very fat for the bore size, with an elliptical shoulder that reflects the primer shock wave back into a sharply focussed point just under the bullet - like a lens or curved mirror focusses light.

Velocity? Oh yes.
