Departure sites (airlines)

IF you guys had a choice to fly to Africa through the states or Europe, which would you do?

I'm hunting in Namibia, so I don't know if I should fly through Europe or leave from the states.

Check & see if you can get on Namibia Airlines from US. If not, fly to Frankfurt & get on Namibia. If you go SAA you may get hit pretty good with excess weight, at least that was my experience. On the other hand, since you're originating from US, I think you are allowed more than the rest of the world. Best bet is to call the airlines and check what their policy is.

Enjoy Africa, Waidmannsheil, Dom.

i've been to RSA twice, three times this May, and always fly direct to Africa. I like the simplicity of leaving the states and landing in South Africa. It might be different leaving from Alaska or the west coast but I still think I would perfer to fly into DC then straight to Joburg. Of course if you can fly direct to Windhoek from London or Frankfurt that may be the best route. One great thing about flying South African Airways across is the personal entertianment screens. I don't know if I sould survive the trip without them.

Is the transfer of firearms in Europe a problem?
