Yard sale find
Found a pair of Leupold 6X32 binoculars for a 100 bucks. Bought them and then the guy told me he had a couple of rangefinders for sale too...a Leica 800 and a Leica 1200. Bought the 1200 for 250 bucks and going to get the 800 for a friend. He wants the same price for the 800 but it's still a good price. While I was at it...he brought out a Smith 29 Mountain gun for 450 bucks. Had to buy it too. All these things are as new too. I spend too much money on this stuff. BTW the Leupold binocs sell for around 400 bucks retail.

Wow, those are some good finds.
Guess I need to start hitting the yard sales. Of course, up here, it is a bit cold for those right now. Maybe in a few months. GSG |

Cold??
Cold here too(about 12 yesterday) but these people have yard sales and auctions all the time. 3 Farm auctions coming up in the next week within 15 miles of where I live. I gotta find a tractor!! Well another one. Just bought an antique John Deere. It was a 58(? I think) 720 Diesel with wide front end. Only paid 2000 bucks for it and it runs good. I went to one farm auction this winter where it was about 4 below(highest) and they sold till 2 hours after dark. Snowing right now. Gonna go for a walk!

Guess I'm just a wimp.
![]() We don't start getting yard and garage sales here until the Spring. Then they pop up everywhere. You can find some great buys if you're willing to take the time to look. GSG |

wow...
I sold the Leica 1200 when I talked to a guy today. Was trying to buy a rifle and ended up selling the rangefinder. I really don't have an awful lot of use for one. Heck if it's more than 350 yds I won't shoot anyway. So I'm gonna sell the other Leica 1200 I've had for a year and a half.. Check swap and shop.
GSG...back in Md we didn't have yard sales till spring got sprung either. These people are the most mobile bunch I have ever seen. In the less than a year I have been here I have met a dozen people who are from Maryland. One I didn't even know lived here, I used to know 25 yrs ago. He lived 15 miles from me in Queen Anne's County before all the FBI moved in. Anyway these people would have a yard sale or auction in the middle of a blizzard

In the 1980's I was finding deals at yard sales when knowing what to look for. Lot's of old books and fishing equipment /lures cheap. Since then it seems poeple are more aware of what they have and what it is worth.
Here what i found this year in the spring. A 1920's bait can that snaps to a belt. 2 dollars. Looked it up in the minnow bucket section of dad's Reels and Rod's price guide worth about 30 bucks at a lure show. 2 silver 1950's quarters in change at Stop and Go in Indianapolis. I stopped for a soda everyday for 2 weeks afterwards wanting more. A first edition second printing Hemmingway "For whom the bell tolls" 15 dollars allong with 30 other books. Perfect shape worth about 30 bucks. Not a great year considering all of the junk i looked through this spring. Auctions on rain days are always a kick. Gone are the 200 dollar sako .223's and 1 dollar new in the box river runt spook floaters of the 1980's.
