CZ 527 204 Ruger Kevlar Varmint Review

I dont visit this forum much anymore but have seen there is some interest in the CZ 527.

I was wanting a light walking yote gun and decided on this 527 in 204 Ruger. I topped it off with a Swarovski 6x18x50. I removed the stock and adjusted the trigger before I took it for an encounter shoooting. The regular trigger now breaks at 3 lbs and the set breaks like glass at 11 oz.

On the outset I bought a 1 box each of Hornady 32 and 40 grain V Max loads. I was hoping for more but when I fired some groups with these they printed 1 inch or slightly larger groups at 100 yds.

I then tried various 32 and 40 gr bullets, different powders along with Winchester brass and Federal 205M primers. What I found out was this.......this particular CZ either shot a load pretty good or it simply did not, ther were not any "middle " of the roaders.

Below are pictures of the outcome of some of the loads. All are 5 shot groups and were shot at 100 yards.

4 shots were into .250" with the 5th being a flyer....

32 gr Varget

40 gr Varget

40 gr Benchmark 4 shots were in .250"

40 gr Varget

All in all I am happy so far with th results, but wished the gun shot the factory Hornady stuff better..may be I am just to picky

Nice shooting.

I just ordered a !9 Caliber Badger built on a CZ 527 action. I can't wait to see how it shoots. I got the Sunset Laminate stock. Mine will be mainly a bench/sit on my a$$ Pasture Poodle type rifle.

The CZ'S I have handled have all been smooth as glass. I love double set triggers also.

If I were you I think I'd also shoot them at 200yds. you might get a surprise. I've seen a couple of fellas shooting 1" at 200 with the factory loads at our range.

Good luck with yours. I don't see how things could get much better.

Best wishes, Bill

My 527 likes the Serria bullets far better than Hornady bullets. It just don`t like the 40 Horndys. DO NOT use the Serria bullets on coyote though as they are to thin skinned. Serria bullets have a .009 jacket and Hornady`s have a .014 thick jacket. Your going to love your CZ.
