Exclamation Hunter takes moose with pellet gun!

My buddy and I were up north for the early moose season last year. He went for a walk looking for grouse during the hot part of the day when we figured the moose were holed up in the shade. He came to the edge of a small pond and a nice bull was in the water feeding on water vegetation. He was up to his belly in the water. Buddy worked his way around the pond until he was directly behind the unsuspecting moose. When the moose put his head under water to get some weeds off the bottom, Buddy took careful aim and let the moose have it right in the testicle! Poor moose sucked in a couple lungfuls of water in pain and surprise and drowned right there on the spot. No kidding!

Talk about no damage to any meat (unless you are fond of swamp donkey oysters).

Hmm...

I don't know if I can really condone what your buddy did. Is it even moose season and is legal to take a moose with a pellet gun? If not that is just cruel and wrong.

Even though it is illegal, that makes for one heck of a story around the campfire. Maybe the moose died of a heart attack instead of drowning.

That was cruel and inhumane no matter how you look at it. Imagine if you were takin a shower and someone shot you in your hangers?.....bet you would drown also. Bet the Anti's will have a ball with this one

You really don't think that this is really a great story do you.. I agree with the couple of others that think that this is outrageous and you're buddy should be doing time for animal cruelty.

In the province of British Columbia it is illegal to hunt big game with a rifle that is not a centre fire. I would suggest that you keep this story to yourself and not make the knowledge of it public anymore. You are lucky to not have been caught. I suggest you count your lucky stars and carry on.

I agree with the others: this is not a funny story. People are always trying to find ways to take our guns away and this is nothing more than ammo for the antis. Next time, keep this stuff to yourself.

Are you guys f-ing idiots?

Are you so messed up you can't even tell a joke from the truth? I know that Americans are pretty unschooled in the ways of the Great White North, but I didn't think for a minute you guys could believe a storey like this!
I think I know why this site is having fewer postings all the time.
Pull your heads out of your buts and open your eyes. Even the anti's wouldn't believe a story like this.

I should have left this post alone and let you guys stew in your ignorance. As a hunter and sportsman I just couldn't bear thinking somebody from offsite would see your comments and believe that all hunters are like you.

I know I'll catch what for over this reply and I deserve it for disrespecting fellow members, but Jeeze Louise, you had it coming.

Scalerman, it is not legal to hunt anything with a pellet gun.

Tater, it IS a funny STORY.

Ratus, some of the crap I have seen posted on the web makes this story seem tame. There are a lot of idiots out there with guns that have no business owning a computer, let alone a gun.

Niteowl, you are right, the anitis WILL have a ball with this one. Just not for the reason you think.

Wahnie, you need to get out a little more.

I told this joke at dinner and everybody was dying laughing. Of course, I thought it was true. Even told them that the guy that posted it was well known on the board and I believed his story. Then the questions started coming. How did he get that close? How did the moose have its head so far under water without being deep in water itself? How did the guy wade out that close to the moose without the moose hearing him? Why wouldn't the moose have spit the water out or gagged when it inhaled that amount of water? Good Lord, that really killed the moment.

The thing about the Internet is that it is sometimes tough to tell if somebody is joking or not. Plenty of arguments start over something that is meant as a joke or sarcasm.

Everybody, let's lighten up. Even though I do not condone illegal actions, stuff does happen and I have been guilty of illegal things here and there with absolutely no intent of doing them. They were merely mistakes. I know people that have great stories to tell about how they got caught doing something illegal and they got a bunch of citations. We all make mistakes. I just hope that we don't break laws intentionally.

Man oh man

I knew this one was a "Tall" tale from the beginning. I can't believe you guys thinking it was cruel.. Hell, if it was me in that lake and sombody shot me like that...I woulda sucked the whole lake dry...just hopin to croak!!!

Hey Blktail....It was a funny story!!....Hey Fabs, moose stand in water that is really pretty deep. You and I would probably drown if we were standing on the bottom. Moose have really long legs and they are pretty large critters. I wouldn't shoot nothin like that! Well, maybe my ex wife!!.But she don't...well, you know what she don't!!

Fair enough Blacktail you got us on that one- and your point in making the post originally was? Fabs is far braver that I am in sharing that story with friends. I don't find it to be funny on any level. I am well acquainted with the hunting regulations in B.C. and am aware that it is illegal to hunt with a pellet gun period. Thank you for straightening me out on that one.

Okay, guys. Enough.

I didn't believe it, either. But the points about the law and the antis not having as good a sense of humor are well taken.

I debated deleting the thread, but then nobody would know why or what I thought about it. So I'll just lock it and let it slide out of sight.
