Couple of Questions

Kids gave me a CVA Kokak just because. Still don't understand why but I'm sure I'll find out and it will probably cost me triple what this costs. Anyway I have a couple of questions.

1. I mounted a Weaver 2 1/2 power scope on it using 418M bases and detachable mounts. I find its very difficult to raise and lower the hammer. The scope sits very close to the hammer. Its OK when I'm in a warm house but suspect it might be dangerous when my hands are half frozen. Any susggestion or different mounts to raise it.

2. I have a ton of 44 cal, 240 gr Nosler pistol bullets. I bought some Hornady Sabots in 50 Cal(.430). When I put the bullet and sabot in the barrel there is a lot of room around it. It almost appears that the bullet and sabot will fall to the breach plug. Is this normal and will the sabot tighten up as it goes down the barrel?

Thanks

I inquired at CVA. Ttheir only suggesting is to get a higher mount. No kidding.
Also they only recommend Powerbelts which I would assume to be fine however cannot believe that a Hornady 50 Cal sabot are so loose in the barrel. Iam concerned that other manufactues would not fit either.

I don't know nothing bout scopes... but tehre might be a hammer extension for the hammer.

As for the sabots, don't know nuthin bouth them either, but they are obviously too small and will not give you adequate accuracy. I'm a pure lead bullet shooter, so you will have to get some help from one of the sabot makers for a thicker sabot, then you should be able to get great accuracy and much better velocity than you will with undersized sabots.

Aloha...

As much as I hate these probably the best solution is to put a see thru mount on it. Would be enough to get my fat thum on the hammer without a problem.

As for the sabots and bullets, I totally proplexed.

Found a few of the sabots that for some unknown reason were undersized or possibly 45 cal. not 50 cal. Found 3 bad ones in a package of 50 and you guessed it, one of those was one I expermented with. Wish I had that luck when drawing a Moose permit. Anyway you can bet Hornady will be getting a call or EMail today. See nothing but a safety issue with that. Can see why they fell down the barrell.

Problem solved. Thanks.

Powerbelts still look pretty good.
