Bushnell Warranty problem

Don't know if anyone else has had any problems with the Bushnell warranty department but a good friend of mine recently did and won't buy their products again. He has an Elite 4200 that has had some windage adjustment problems. The scope has ring marks on it but nothing more. It has been mounted on a .220 Swift. I know for a fact it hasn't hit the ground in or out of the case. He sent it in to see if they would repair whatever the problem is and received a letter back saying that the scope appears to have been dropped hard and that for only about $400 they would send him a new scope. We have exchanged letters a couple of times with them to no avail. I had heard that these were pretty good scopes especially for the money, but if this is how they treat warranty work I won't be buying one either.
