Martin Bamboo Viper

While looking for more info into the Tred Barta Bow, I ran across another Martin bow on ebay... the Martin Bamboo Viper, which I bought. Does anyone have any firsthand info on this bow?

Aloha...

Well have shot the bow for the first time a couple of days ago... not totally broken into this bow yet... but it is fairly smooth and with woven nylon cord tied to the string all you can hear with a wood arrow is soft... tooonk. The bow is of moderate speed, not having chronographed it yet, feels a lot like my recurve... which would put it around 160-180 fps.

Having the grip like it does and shooting with a straight wrist like I do, there is no handshock like there is with my more traditional longbows... and that alone is worth the price of admission.

The bow is light enough to really be pleasant and the bamboo has just enough flaws in it to look "authentic". This bow is not as forgiving as is my 21st century nova, even though it is 5 pounds less in draw (65 vs 70).

I'll post some pictures of the bow later... except for that cartoon snake on the limbs, bow looks and feels very nice..and the riser on this bow is magnificent with a feathered laminations pattern in the riser window... I love it.

Aloha..

Hey, that sounds pretty slick. I use a Hoyt Intruder. I've had it since '99. Just love it. And like most of my guns, it shoots better than I do.
