Sharps percussioncarbine

Does anyone have experience with the Sharps percussion carbines or rifles? I have an original carbine that does not have the breach seal device, which I have shot with no difficulty. I recently got a Pedersoli Sharps carbine ( '63) with the moving breach seal. I can't get more than 5 rds through this gun till the fowling between the breach block and seal plate locks it up!.
I've tried several types of grease, which got me from 3 rds to 5 rds! Any ideas?

Old Scout,

I see you are shooting the Pedersoli Sharps Carbine. Are you using linen cartridges or loose powder? I think grease will merely compound your problems of fouling "locking up" the breech.

Have you contacted Pedersoli and asked them for an opinion? I would because maybe they did not follow the original Sharps configuration close enough; just my opinion at this point.

I have compared the gun to an original '63, and it looks the same. I hope to get out to the CWSA shoot at the end of the month, and know several people there shoot these things.
My original Sharps, which doesn't have the breach seal shoots fine all day! It does leak a bit though, burns the hair off your left arm and turns your forehead black! Well, thats a little exageration, but it does leak!
The fifty yard groups are runing 1 1/2", which is better than I expected. Thats either loose loading or paper cartrdige. If I can keep it running for 10-15 rounds between cleaning it'll be great for the Carbine matchs.
