More Yard Sale Finds
This is mainly for GOB. He can't seem to find any yard sales that have good stuff. These weren't actually in the yard sale..well some of it was. The guns I asked about. Bought a nice little Winchester M-42 pump 410. original with about 60% finish for 450 bucks..a new in box Colt Diamondback 4 inch Blue 22 for 350(gotta love them Colts) and a fair little Winchester M-1906 22 pump. Only about 60% but nice bore and otherwise really clean for 150 bucks and then I got a whole bunch of factory ammo in 30-06(3 bx) 243(2 bx) 280(2 bx) 3 boxes of factory 35 Whelen and 4 boxes of 7MM Rem Mag...as well as at least 800 rds of various caliber once fired brass. a couple hundred 22 hornets were in that batch too... as well as a couple hundred once fired 222 Rem. Paid a nice 55 bucks for all of that. Didn't quibble on any of the ammo...but I got the brass cheap. Heck the ammo was priced at 2 bucks a box though...and tonight I got another Dillon 650 loader with all the bells and whistles, case feeder included. The price WAS right.

Very nice. Yep you are deffinantly going to have to start another shop.
I got a 1950s model King somethinganother stainless kitchen sink WITH the metal cabinet (all of which is moveable) for $0. Will be very nice for a deer camp or an outdoors kitchen area close the the barbque pit since I can still hook up the thing (unhooked it myself so that they didnt cut it away from the walls) either just to water or put a gravity feed off a 55 gallon drumb (for deer camp) Best I could do. You have to work at finding things. I alsways ask at yard sales especially when it is the elderly. They quite often want to dispose of guns and really don't know how. So I can be the disposee or er or whatever
I also finally talked the guy down on the custom 35 Whelen. Made on an Argentine Mauser by a fellow named Goens from Montana. Wood is fairly plain...but very nicely done. If I keep it I have ammo for it too....but the guy gave me 175 rounds of new and once fired brass

Yep thats for certain. You have to have the nose for it and you have to ask about it. You don't ask you won't know. My problem lately has been that I just have not had the time off to go hit up the local sales.

You must have an honest face and a great line of BS. Ed

Honest face!!
Definitely an honest face. No BS. Just ask..pay a fair price...or what they ask for it if it is ok. Also when I do a gun show... I put a fair price on the guns I get rid of and they really do go. The last show I put a sign on the table. Said my prices are fair and FIRM! Sold the heck out of the ones I wanted to get rid of. If the price is right people will buy thngs...as well as sell 'em.

Last weekend while at the Wyoming State Skeet Shoot(I shot lousy) I stopped at a Casper yard sale and found a few(8) Rounds of 25-36 Marlin. Really excellent condition. Bought them for a dollar. No guns this time.

GOB,
Does cleaning out a safe and finding a gun you do not remember every buying or owning count as a good day? Well if it does, I found two TC Contenders I can not for the life of me recall ever owning, in the bottom of my bench safe, where I had not been for 20+ years. It was like Christmas an didn't cost me a dime... Ed

Found today
Found an old Martini that had been converted to 12 ga at a yard sale. Operated fine but I didn't buy it. Guy wanted 150 bucks for it. but I did buy a few things that were a fair price I guess. Got more than 40 lbs of mostly Winchester 9mm once fired brass. All cleaned and bagged.. more than 750 45 230 gr FMJ bullets 600 44 cal 240 grJSWC 1700 .224 55gr FMJ 350 62 gr .224 bullets and 150 55 gr .224 soft points. Got them for a pretty fair price too. Know anybody that needs 1000 .224 55 gr FMJ's?? Cheap! I'm gonna shoot the rest.

Skeet,
You might want to rethink the big frame Martini and return today for it. The Martini action is a 60k action. If the action's surfaces are nice and clean, no pits, the action is worth more than $150. It would be a snap to rebarrel to a 303 range cartridge. I do Martini Conversions. Below is my 357 SM gun. Ed

Well Dan
If the gun is clean you got you a 500 buck gun for a l'il less than 200 All ya have to do is ask.
Rapier. I know the action is strong etc but the whole thing isn't worth the cost to buy and either try to sell or rebarrel. At least to me. If you were close I'd tell ya where it is. The market for such a gun in this area is somewhat slim. A friend back east has a Martini in original condition and caliber... Neat to shoot. Slower than a 45-70. Shooting at a 200 yd sheet of steel gong at the range...it was boom.........clang. When the light was right you could see the bullet occassionally. Wouldn't want to get hit with that ol' punkin ball though
