Cats are Getting Agressive
Yesterday, Colorado DOW warned that cats are getting more aggressive. This was after an encounter in Golden...large cat attempted to get through a home window to the lady inside.
Hills are fun, just want to encourage hikers/hunters/campers to be wary of possible cat encounters, they are becoming more numerous!Early in nmorning and late in evening, try not to jog or hike alone, keep an eye on children. Never crouch down in an encounter, wave arms and look big, toss rocks and yell. Usually, they will leave...if not, do not run.. you have a right to defend yourself......Colorado is an open carry state! Dan ![]()

Man, that would be scary even if you are carrying! Mountain lions are very big cats and I don't want to go one on one with one! Here in Maine, we have a few but no one ever sees them and they stay far away from people! The only other thing that could bother you up here is a black bear and 99 times out of 100 they will run as soon as they see you.

Rick, son and myself have had several bear encounters, actually
have had a couple of cats in my back yard....live by foothills...so far, haven't had to fire any shots. When I was jogging at 0430, I carried a 357 in a shoulder rig. It was a last resort item! You never know when you will find the one that didn't read the book.LOL Not trying to alarm, just want people to be aware. Dan

I live in western MN, about 30 miles from the SD borner. Last week a guy I know came across a road kill lion, about 50 lbs. They're not "supposed" to be here, but nobody told him.

I live in West TX and there is a few but not many according to the State. I personly have seen 7 of them withing 10 miles of my house. I varmint hunt around here on many diffrent owners land. They are geting thicker and thicker all the time. And the less people hunt them and keep them down the more aggressive they get. And as winter come on the hunger drives them in closer and closer to people.
Be carefull out there like they said DONT RUN!!!

We have a cat that is living in the area of our City park and I have been hunting him for about two weeks now. Most of the cats move through this area and leave in a day or so but this one is staying for some reason.

Big cats
Have one traveling in the area here. Lives in the sandstone bluffs behind the ranch. Haven't seen it yet but I see it's tracks across the irrigation road in the dust. We always carry a handgun at the least when walking the ranch.... snakes and coyotes too. Missed another coyote with my 45 the other day...but he was about 60 yds or so. Momma killed a pretty big rattler not long ago. Had nine rattles. Nasty snakes

Cougars on the plains
The local newspaper reported sightings of Cougars / Mountain Lions / Puma (take your pick) in neighborhoods near Elizabeth, CO which is the edge of the high plains. They're after the deer that are getting plentiful. Everyone's been told to keep their pets in at night...
