6mm shooting Federal factory?
I'm having a problem, I have a model 4 Rem 6mm. I bought 2 boxes of Federal ammo. For some reason, there's way too much pressure? The ejector is breaking off a small piece of the base, the spent cartridge remains in the chamber, the next problem is the primer shows cratering/primer flow! Has anyone ever experienced this, if so help.
I haven't had this problem with Rem. ammo? But I prefer Federal.

Welcome to HuntChat!
I think the first thing I would do is contact Federal regarding the problem. They may want you to send the box of ammo that you are having trouble with in order to check the powder charge, etc. I had an M1 garand blow up in my face using Winchester ammo. Winchester had me send them the ammo and the rifle (what was left of it). They said the rifle appeared to have excessive head space and they found nothing wrong with the ammo. What's really great is Winchester reimbursed me for my Garand. I've since learned that Garands are not designed to handle full power loads so now for my 2nd Garand I load my own. muledeer |

mule deer,
Thanks for the info! I'm taking in as much info as I can. A gun dealer in my area said to clean and brush both chamber and neck for any build up? My gun is spotless, also nowhere near broken in. It shoot bery good for an auto. but it may be a little on the tight side chamber wise? I'm not sure yet. I do not want to hurt this gun in any way! Thanks again! gorilla10
