hunted in the rain
well i decided to hunt in the rain for the sd resident/public land only opener. hunted for an hour in one area, got one rooster.
next day, in the rain, another hour, another rooster. i hunted in the rain cause i was so excited to get my 1 yr old shorthair on her first bird. she did great, pointed both, as well as some hens, and retrieved one. came home and oiled the gun. well worth getting drenched. thank god for waterproof upland clothing and boots!! pic of "mojo" as a young un. the boston terrier always greets us when we get home from the field. |

hofts, Where did you get your shorthair? My son just got a pup back in May that looks alot like yours. He got his in Aberdeen, S.D. Good looking pup by the way and yeah you're right. Any day in the field is better than a day sitting home.

mojo
i got her out of vomroyalshorthairs.com, in des moine ia.
her bloodline is pretty much direct from germany. their testing is a little different over there. for example, mojo's mother had to kill a live sow coon and retrieve it back to the owner. also had to find a hidden dead fox and retrieve it back over a 100 yards, to past certain tests, as well as blind duck retrieves, etc. she loves the water, and retrieves well out of water. her mother went goose hunting quite a bit. so she should be very versatile. very calm dog for the most part too. so far very happy, considering i really haven't been working with her like i should be. (shame)/ |
