Need everybodys opinion please!!
Hey ya'll...
I have a slideshow I need ya'll to look at and give me y'alls opinions. I have been asked to do a slideshow for a gallery..and the theme is "Autrocities of the Civil War." I hunted down all the photos and got the composition myself. It would be really cool if ya'll could wear your headphones or whatever for this, as if i'm lucky, it might be the leader in the imax theatre there to boot.... (ya'll aint know I was so artsy-fartsy did ya? )...so good sound and clear sound is important. That is why I chose that particular composition...it has ups, downs and little things you caint quite catch over puter speakers. Anyway..i need emotional opinions..what ya feel after seein it kinda thing. It aint easy drawin emotion out of photos that were always so stark back then..but I tried. I did another version too...but thought it was just TOO wrenchin... I want opinions, good or bad please..I wont git riled..I just want to do more of these...lol..so I want this one to be good. There are commissions for more lead-ins out there..so I would appreciatte any thoughts/comments. I'll explain the details of the scenes later...dont wanna spoil the surprise It still needs tweakin..frame speed and so forth..but the basics is there I hate youtube...but I knew I could upload it there...hopefully it wont draw alot of attention..lol Thanks ya'll BTW...it looks alot better on a bigger screen...I'll try to upload it somehow where you can play it on yer puter instead of the sall box on youtube... EDIT: Revised version here...this is what I think I'll submit: Civil War Video

Awesome LilRed. I loved the music, not only a great beginning but throughout. I really think you got the right composition, my heart did a beat when it started, and that's just on my lil laptop!!
In fact, from my untrained view you could leave it as is and have the desired dramatic effect. Now, I'm not sure what kind of equipment you used, but I noticed all the pans were zooming. If there's one thing you want to try it might be to vary them, i.e., some from in close to pan out, and from the larger scenery slides coming from left or right in. I enjoyed that a lot, I think you did a great job, Waidmannsheil, Dom. |

That is a superb presentation! Great slides, perfect music. Nicely done, very effective.
I assume the rocking chair in the last frame was the one Lincoln sat in at Ford's Theater? |

O U T S T A N D I N G !
Lilred Jr. can be proud of her Momma. The music was perfect and well timed to the slides. One change though. The one slide is reversed, the one with the writing on it. Thanks for the Lee and Grant pictures. Two of the greatest Generals ever in my opinion. One snipet about Grant. His given name was Hiram Ulysses Grant. When he attended West Point the other Cadets called him HUG and he wasn't thrilled with the nickname and had his name changed to Ulysses Simpson Grant. Simpson was his Mothers maiden name. I went to U.S. Grant grade school in Dayton Ohio. Thats how I found that out. My encyclopedic memory goes back to 1942 and first grade. You did a great job on the show and have every reason to be extremely proud of your work. Mazel Tov. Duffy, very astute on the rocking chair, I never connected it to Abraham Lincoln. Now that you point it out it makes perfect sense and a perfect ending to the show. Best wishes, Bill |

Lilred, excellent!
You found some uncommon photos, which is nice- you see the same photos over and over in most places. I liked the music, thought it fit very well.

Thank you everybody...I will do some revisions and repost the final clip...I will take Dom up on his recommendation and have still frames. I tried to keep it simple...I didnt want to take away from the slides or the composition.
It was tough fittin it all in..artillery, landscapes and the general feel of war..but if it's moves ya..then I have accomplished what I set out to do. BTW...that is Abraham Lincolns chair at the end..I felt like puttin his pic was too up front...besides...he died 5 days after the war ended...I thought his empty chair was more solemn and said more about the war and its tradegy than his face. Back to work...keep those opinions comin...I value them more from the intelligent folks here than those idgits on youtube lol...

Was your theme to be Autrocities of the War as well?

Yes and no...I didnt want it to be...(lookin fer the right word) distressful.
I wanted a "feel sorrow for the soldiers who fell" feel...but yet I wanted some sense of pride and distinction for em too. Hence the "easy to look at" pics in the high side of the composition. But overall I wanted a "look what they went through" kinda feelin...not just blood, death and etc. My mama cried when she saw it...so I felt that it'll at least make the viewer think..and remember them.

All I can say is "Very touching." I don't think that your mother is the only one with tears in her eyes. |

Very moving experience. The only thing I would change is the length of time one had to view each photo...a little short to get the whole feeling for each photo but as a whole..very well done.
