Another very good book.....
I just picked up and read most of a book about the Revolutionary War. It is entitled, " Patriot Battles, How the War of Independence Was Fought," by Michael Stephenson.
I grew up 5 miles from Valley Forge and was immersed in Revolutionary War history. That was reinforced by finding out Washington spent a few months in my village from September 1777, after the nearby Battle of Brandywine, until he went into camp at Valley Forge on December 17, 1777. I am a critical reader of history books and find occasional errors that are not, in and of themselves, signifigant. This book's author obviously is not arms oriented because he says "the Pennsylvania Riflemen needed 15 minutes to reload" compared to 20 seconds for those armed with smoothbore muskets. Well, we can tell Mike Stephenson never handled a rifled musket. Any other good, or very good, books out there about our past history? Adam

I, too like that time in American history but Irving's Three Western Narratives has got to be my favorite. I have the advanced uncorrected proofs, Library of America. At times it's hard to read.
