Gun Show
Did the gun show in Cody this weekend. Sold a lot of stuff..took a few guns on trade and sold a few also. Did pick up a nice 1911 by S&W. Stainless gun in the case.. and I also got a pair of barrels for a Contender. One was a 14inch bull bbl in 223 with a 7 power Burris and the other was a 44 Mag Hotshot bbl with choke and a box of 44 hotshots. Picked up a 1911 made for Argentina also but it was a little rough...but the guy had 4 mags and 500 rounds of once fired brass and 50 rounds of WCC 1955 ammo to go with it. Just had to buy it. Took a nice early Marlin 39A(no gold trigger) on trade...but that makes 3 so at least one has to go
 At least that is what I told the frau!. Darn woman is catching on lately though!

Skeet I once owned a ballister molina (the argentina 1911) for almost a week. Took it to the range after having been told it was all original to find that it would not feed AT ALL. The shop I bought it from sent it to a gunsmith who sent it back saying the ramp had been recut by somebody who was obviously an idiot and unless they wanted to pay him to make it work with ramped barrels it was a paperweight. They returned my money and I purchased a Thompson 1911A1 instead. It was a shame the gun felt really good and pointed well.
Congrats on the swaps and sells. I haven't gotten to go to a gun show in so long I am finally over the withdrawels. . . . . GoodOlBoy

Uh, just to be annoyingly picky, the Ballester Molina isn't exactly a 1911.
http://www.sightm1911.com/1911%20History.htm There are Argentine 1911's, some made by Colt and some made by Argentina. Those are 1911A1's, and all 1911 parts interchange. They usually have DGFM or FMAP marked on the slide. Argentina also made a less expensive to manufacture pistol called the Ballester Molina, that looks like a 1911 without a grip safety. While it looks like a 1911, it iisn't quite, and not all parts interchange.

Colts etc
This one was one of the 1911s FMAP to be exact. It was all original but the trigger is really rough. Wouldn't have taken it if it was a Ballister Molina. Not bad guns but harder to find parts for...and I have LOTS of 1911 Parts so I'll buy them. I guess i should have named the gun as what it was denoted as the model of 1927 Argentine.

I have one of the FMAP's too, Skeet.
Mine came with several magazines,too- all crappy  and a rough trigger.A little time with some stones and the trigger wasn't bad, but I eventually put a Videcki trigger in it-and that made for a great trigger pull- exactly 4 pounds, every time.

The ballister wasn't a bad gun in and of itself, and yes not all of the parts were interchangeable, and yes it didn't have a grip safety (part of what I liked about it) At any rate I didn't realize there was anything else made by argentina. My bad.

are you replacing the trigger or just fixing that one? I love the vedeki long trigger I put in mine. Even if it did take me over an hour to get it fit. I didn't put the overtravel screw in mine either.

GOB, I left the original hammer, sear, etc in the gun and just replaced the trigger. I did replace all the springs, just as a precaution.
My first step was to use the issue trigger, and just do a trigger job on the gun- since my labor is free. That helped a lot, but the Videcki improved things even more. I do have the overtravel screw in and set. If I had to do it again, I'd go to the Videcki or similar right away.

Yep thats what I did in my milspec. About the only things I have replaced internally that stayed replaced (IE that I didn't back out and go back to original parts) were the trigger, and the titanium firing pin with extra power spring I bought directly from springfield. He I am even about to put the original military style iron sights back on mine. I did go in with emery cloth and remove the parkerizin from the face of the disconnector. Not enough to remove actual metal mind you, JUST the parkerizin. Why you would do that to a disconnector in the first place I have no idea, but there it was. Even after putting in the videcki it smoothed it out ALOT. Now the trigger is crisp, clean, and has almost no slack in it.

Didn't do this at the gun show but...
Found an 870 express on Craig's List for 175(like I need an 870...again). While in Billings went to look at it, hemmmed and hawed a little. Guy wanted to sell so I bought it for 150 bucks and he gave me a box of shells
 I am almost ashamed of myself. The express guns only come with one choke so here comes the tie in with the gun show. The guy at the table adjacent to mine had a couple of Remington chokes and wrench on his table. No interest in them so he gave 'em to me. So now I have a full mod and improved choke for the gun and a wrench. Gun is as new and I also have a fully rifled slug bbl for the darn thing
