Lost my best buddy today

Had to have my 10yr old Yorkshire terrier, Archie, put down today. Best dog I ever knew and better than most people I know. Had the heart of lion. I'm not usually at a loss for words but today I am. Some days are better than others, but today really frigging sucks.

I'm sorry to hear that, and I can understand the feelings. I am not looking forward to the day I take that last drive to the vet for my 13yr yorkie X.

I still haven't gotten over the loss of my lab...quite a few of you helped me through it. Down in Hunting Dogs, you'll find a post to me by Huntingvet....trust me, it will help a lot!

the memories won't fade, but the pain will. I lost three Scotties in the past year and a half. Its a real heartbreaker.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss Classic, and I agree that a lot of dogs are better than people. Nitro is only 4, but I cry about thinking about his passing.

I am so sorry to hear this, yeah I know only too well the pain that you feel. After 9 years I still miss my old Staffordshire Bull terrier ,Mitzie, even though I have one the same colour J-D that I took on the March after losing her in the November. If she had just made the June she would have been 16 years old. He is now showing signs of age as he was 3 1/2 when I took him on and has some lumps appearing on him now.

Classic

Sorry to hear about your loss. I've had alot of dogs over the years and it's never easy. My Lab, Midas, died in 2005. He was 13.5 years old and I still think about him. He loved the water and Chukar hunting. My wife wants to get another dog and I believe we will, shortly.

I know the feeling . I lost a Lab mixed pup last summer . I missed that dog and think about it constantly . I have pics on my cellphone that are priceless to me. Dog lovers know the meaning of "Mans best friend" . I'm truly sorry for your loss.

I'd like to thank everyone for such kind words of encouragement. We had a private service at the crematorium today. I never knew that they had/did stuff like that. Very dignified and respectful.

Last night we were going thru some pictures and came across some of the best of Archie. He loved playing in the snow and we had a couple pictures of him standing at the door in the snow with his little paws up on the glass. He had white fluffy snow all in his beard and on the front of him. When we got up this morning, we got the first snow of the year here, about 4" of the fluffy stuff. He would have loved that.
