Don't Like the Implications

Cabellas has decided to delay the construction of it's Colorado
mega store for a year.... citing finances. Don't quite know how to digest this...................Denver area already has every other sports suppliers...market miscalculations?????????????
Dan

Currently, there is Sportsman Warehouse/ Gander Mountain/Bass Pro/Sports Authority/Big 5/Dicks and REA....could be saturation
point..I had looked forward to it! Needless to say, mom n pops are disappearing....still a few.

Dan

Just an EWAG here but I believe all the Firearms industry is feeling the big pinch. I get almost daily EMAILS from Midway, Natchez and Grafs with sales info. Trouble is I can't afford even the sales stuff anymore.

Wheat Ridge?

Is that the one they call Wheat Ridge, Colorado? I also noticed the one they were planning north of Atlanta, Ga. is no longer on their website. I think about the amount of stuff I order off the internet and wonder why anyone would open a retail store and sell the sames items for a much higher price. Their stores are more of a place to visit and then a place to shop. I buy most of my hunting gear from them because of the way they stand behind all the products they sell, especially items with their name on them.

Hey Dan

Watching the news from Billings last night and they are going to get the store in Billings opened by the Summer of 2009 rather than this coming summer. Difficulties are metastatic Charles(things are tough all over Charlie). I buy mostly clothing from them. Their shootin stuff is way too spensive for most things. Quite often buy shooting stuff cheaper at the small gun shops etc....or at yard sales

Holy crap skeet, where did you learn that 12 cylinder word, METASTATIC from ?

The only reason I knew it was because thats the type Cancer my Grandaughter had. It is a transfer or movement within the body of a tumor(s).

Who ever said this forum isn't informative and educational?

Best wishes, Bill

Perhaps it is a Bass Pro problem rather than a Cabellas problem? They are building Bass Pro locations like there is no tomorrow. It is always at the expense of a competitor, when a retailer starts expanding. Bass Pro is acting like they dug a tunnel into the mint.

Dan,
I go all over the country, you would not believe how many Bass Pro stores are under construction or are just opened. My guess is that they are tearing Cabellas a new butt all over the country. In the big retailer world you need not be next door to run the next guy out of business.

Looks like the one in Rapid City South Dakota is still a go. They were working on it the other day when I went by.
