You all will get my grief, the family don't seem to get it, I was told to "Get over it!".

The guys are fireing in to water, in to ballistics gel to see if one can escape getting shot up by swimming under water. They used a 5.56 AR-15 carbine, M1 Garrand and a Barrett .50 boltaction.

And although I don't think Adam and Jamie truly understand ballistics and ammo, they did a good job..........except!

The .50 had a TASCO on it And I don't mean a Super Sniper, or even an old Japanese World Class, but a Tasco, with a deer head sillouette, I checked the web page, and it seems to be a newer model World Class...EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!

That's just WRONG! It ain't right! What were they thinking? It sure as heck rubs me wrong...................or should I just get over it?

Saw the episode ... hey they hit the pool!!

They are definately not "gun" people if you've seen any of their other shows involving firearms, but some of the antics are pretty entertaining and they don't push an anti -gun position like most Hollywood folks.

Those two guys don't have the foggiest clue about guns & ammo, although I do like the show. Saw one episode where they needed gunpowder, so they went and bought a box of ammo and pulled the bullets. Guess they can't buy a can of powder where they are at.

The neat thing about the "shooting into the pool" show were the results. Ya know what "penetrated" the farthest? A muzzleloader. Nothing else penetrated very far. Guess there is something to be said for having a big ol' hunk o' lead just plodding along.

I really have to say I was suprised by the pool results. I would have bet anything the .50cal would have put a 'bunch of punch' much deeper. But I never had a reason to shoot in to water.

When they use guns for myths, I cringe, because they just don't get it. Like the tracers and a cars gas tank. They were at about 30 yarsa away (I don't remember the actual distance) but they were way too close, and FINALLY, the 'experts' in the background kinda suggested they need to back up and let the magnesium get to a better heat potential.

And I totally hate it when they put the muzzle an inch away from an intended target.

Probably my favorites were blowing up the cement truck and when they launched the water heaters ... 500 ft staight through the roof of the "tough" shed ... folks don't mess with the safety devices on water heaters!!

Kari and the Mythbusters. She'd get my vote!

I never even knew there were safety devices on water heaters. I try to learn something new every day. Mission accomplished today. Tomorrow, I am going to try to learn what those safety devices are.

They are pressure relief valves. Keeps 'em from blowing up....sometimes...well most of the time.

I like Mythbusters too, but Vette hit the nail on the head when he said...they dont know what they're doin when it comes to guns. The shootin the locks open with the different guns was...amusin. There was a few episodes where they were shootin stuff up with a shotgun and they never mentioned what shot they were usin, which really plucked my chicken fer some reason.

I am a history, history int, military and nat geo freak.
While we're talkin bout these cable shows...who hates that british fool in the show man vs wild. What a friggin idgit...god...i could slap him around fer a week in the wilderness and it wouldnt bother me none.
He was in the french foreign legion doc and since it wont all bout him was kinda quiet...but survivorman aint too bad. At least he adds a little character to his show.
For those of you who have HBO...Im jealous. I got directtv and was too tight to pay fer the highest price package, and now i gotta wait till june to see john adams. Iffin it's half as good as Band of Brothers...it'll be worth the wait.
Battle 360 was worth watchin too...

I like Myth Busters too. And although they may not be very gun knowledgeable, I think they provide a positive gun-friendly image to the public.

I love Band of Brothers. I've watched it 4 or 5 times now, and try to get as many people I know to watch it with me. That is an awesome movie. What is this about John Adams? What is Battle 360 about?

Personally, I am getting to the point where there isn't anything to worth watching on TV unless it is the history channel, national geographic, or those types of channels. The sports and hunting channels make me sick, as does American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, etc. Actually, I haven't had much time lately to watch TV, but when I do it isn't those shows.

I do like Mythbusters and I am happy that they are actually using guns on some of their shows. They have even done some scenes where the two of them are merely explaining something and a gun is hanging on the wall behind them. My brothers aren't anti gun, but they barely know anything about guns. They own a couple, but try to talk ballistics or scope quality with them and they are completely lost.

John Adams (the most famous and influential lawyers of all time IMHO) is a miniseries on HBO, also done by Tom Hanks (like Band of Brothers..which I've watched at least a dozen times too) and it looks awesome. I'm a Revolutionary war freak ...so it's right up my alley. They say it is historically accurate (which is the most important thing in my book) and most of it was filmed in Williamsburg.
Battle 360 is the recreations of the battles of USS Enterprise durin WWII. It's mostly computer generated stuff...but it has tons of WWII footage and interviews.

Another show that is dam hard to watch, but imho NEEDS to be seen by every American is Memory of the Camps..PBS Frontline. It's graphic at points but it shows the brutality of the Nazi death camps, all original footage.

I liked Battle 360 also. THE most interesting things about it are that it is sponsored by Enterprise Car Rentals - whose president served on the Enterprise, and he named his company for the ship. Second, the hour-long show has only ONE commercial, in which the president of Enterprise merely says how thrilled he is to sponsor the show. That's class.
