Hey!

It's been a really really busy six months for me so I've had very little online time for quite a while. We even missed our turkey hunt in May, but we're gonna combine turkey with our deer hunt so it's not a total loss. But bear season is here and.....

We had our first night out for the bear hunt on Monday. We only had one hunter in, he was the only one hunting, and we had a bear hanging before dark. The gentleman's first-ever bear. Woohooo! He's gonna run the video camera for various others over the next week. We were trying to convince him that he can fill hubby's tag but he's pumped to get everyone else's on video, like a kid in a candy store.

My niece was out last night but no luck yet.

We also have two others coming in tonight, both first-timers, and hubby and I also still have to get out and fill the freezer. First week of season and we're hoppin so it looks like it's gonna be pretty busy for a while longer. Maybe we'll even have six bear hangin by Sunday, wouldn't that be cool.

Sun's coming up and gotta get ready for the rest of the crew so I gotta git but I'll try and get some pics posted asap.

Ice

Always enjoy the posts and hope ya get lots of pictures. Best of luck on the hunts.

I've never been farther East in Canada than Manitoba. But I love the Western portion. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL.

I like to sit in cafes and watch the Americans who are making their first trip going to Alaska. They usually look like they are expecting to walk in a third world country or the downtown portion of Baghdad. The things you hear from them are sometimes comical.

I always like the "well back home, we do it this way". The only thing I can think at the time is "well you ain't back home and please act like a gracious guest in someone else's home".

Again, good luck on the "hunts".

Best wishes, Bill

We've found that most of the bear in this area have a white patch on the chest, varying in size. In all the bear we've taken in the last six years there were only two so far that didn't have a white patch.

So far we've only got the one bear in that was taken Monday night, but I've got a feeling the guys will get lucky tonight. The wind is up and a storm is moving in so the bear will be on the move tonight for sure.

Here's a pic of the one that was taken on Monday.

Our newbie that went out Saturday night was a little skeptical when he saw the torrential rain and I told him the bears would be on the move that night. We had a line of storms moving through, and clear sky coming right behind it. Well now he believes me...lol

This is the nice bear he had down before sunset...

We had a blast for the last week and it makes it even better when a couple of newbies get their first bear. We only had the three newbies in for the week and only one went home without a bear. I'll have to sit with him myself next time he comes up cause something isn't right when this is the second year in a row that he's gone home empty handed and the bait he sits on is hit after he leaves it every night.

We still have four tags to fill. Me, hubby, niece and dauther, and hopefully we'll get out there ourselves before we take more guests out.

Hey girl sounds like all is well with you...I am glad....my gator season is dying in front of me as I speak...the weather has been too brutal to even launch.....some of my buddies have done well but so far I got nothin to brag about.....I am depressed...

huntin in an airboat with rain beaten on you is like daggers in your face and the animals hunker down and dont move...
