South Dakota Cabela's

We have two stores in our state now and they are in Mitchel and the new one in Rapid City.
We were at the opening of the one in Rapid City with the Turkey Federation. They were busy despite the high prices but they did have the items.

You would think that would be a prime area. The back woods locals (Sheels) tried to block the one in Rapid but it went through anyway.

We just recently go one in Maine and Conn. The store is pretty nice. Living in Taxachusetts its still about a 1 1/2 hour drive. But it nice to know its there. We also have a Bass Pro in Foxboro which is pretty close and is just about as good a Cabela's.

From what I have just read the new stores are smaller then the original ones and they think they will do as good and save contruction $. I guess we will see but they are already getting some complaints on their 80,000 sq. ft. store in Rapid City.

I really like those big Cabela's stores. They make hunting look good. My wife enjoys Cabela's as well.

We have visited the one in Hamburg, PA twice and the one in South Dakota once.

Now we have one close to us here in Connecticut. The wife and I go there often.

I've got a buddy who works for Sportsman's Warehouse. I told him 5 years ago they should open a store in the Rapid City area off I-90. They said the market was too small, but I think they would have gotten a ton of business from outdoorsmen heading west on I-90.

Their stores are nice if you want to get in and out fast, Cabelas is fun to go to if you have some time and make a trip out of it. The Sheep display at the Mitchell, SD store is better than the display at the Sheep museum in Dubois, WY.
