.54 Flinter is ready.
The PA Antlerless Muzzleloader deer season is October 18-25, 2008. Any muzzleloader is legal and any sights/scopes.
I have tested various percussion and flint Hawkens and have settled on my old favorite-the .54 T/C Hawken. I have owned this arm for 8 years and like the way 75 grains of 3F Goex puts the patched ball and my cast Maxi to the same point of aim at 75 yards. This is the best time of year to be afield. Actually, I am woods loafing and may not shoot a doe on this old farm. I would prefer to get a coyote instead of a doe. Adam

Good choice
The Lyman Trade Rifle .54 flint is my favorite and with 80 grains of FFG and patched ball it will shoot tight group at 75 yards. Good luck. All the best...

Gil,
Thanks for the good wishes. I was afield every day but one and it was a lovely time to be afield here on the farm. On three different days I had 14, 17 and 21 turkeys walk past my stand and they never noticed me. One day three I had a big black bear walk across the hayfield in front of me, about 90 yards out, and he still calls this farm home. I have his picture on my trail camera. I lasered him with my range finder and he is a nice bear. Come up for rifle deer, if you can. Adam
