I've already read that story. I'm on another chatboard that is cycling related, and the number of Obama supporters there is utterly nuts. I am definitely the minority republican over there. IF Obama gets elected, I hope this economy goes into the toilet and he cannot fix it. That would certainly result in the election of a Republican President at the next election.

The smartest thing he could probably do IF he gets elected, would be to give a huge tax rebate to the poor so that they would spend it and try to get the economy rolling again, while ignoring the huge increase to the national debt. I seriously doubt the poor care one bit about the national debt.

When he gets elected or whoever gets the job I hope for damn sure the economy dont go in the toilet!
Don't be too darn sure how the poor, and I will also add the middle class to this also as we are about one pay check away from the poor Think.

Don't be so sure. Such a development could also embolden Obama and his minions to take even more drastic measures than they are currently contemplating and make the term "class warfare" more than just a figure of speech.

Do you guys really think the poor would save a tax rebate? Do you really think they care about the national debt? Maybe a few do, but not the majority of them. The majority of them only care about how they are going to make it to tomorrow. Not much else matters other than how they are going to make it to tomorrow.

I seriously doubt the poor worry about the long term health of the US. I just don't think they can afford to worry about the long term health of the US when they are so consumed with making it to tomorrow. What is right for the country in the long term, might not be right for the poor in the short term. It is almost like battle. Sometimes, things need to be done in the short term that are terrible, but ensure victory in the long run.
