Need some help

Everybody, I'm in need of some advise with Hornady Great Plains Conicals in 385 gr. I just picked up a T/C Renegade in 50 Cal that I would love to get some load data for.

Lymans 2nd edition Black powder Handbook& Loading manual lists charge volumes of 60- 120 grs. with Pyrodex RS or Goex 2Fg powders for the 385 gr conical. This data was for a 50 cal. with a 32 inch barrel with a 1-32" twist. I'd probably start around 80 to 90 grains and go up from there.

Thanks, I know the T/C is a 1:48 twist and this is my first attempt at using conical bullets. Here in PA, PRB's were the only legal projectile allowed by the Game Commission until a few years back.

Pre-64,

I use 90 grains of Goex 2F and conicals in my T/C .50 calibers. If you did not get a T/C Handbook with suggested loads with your rifle, a call or email to T/C will get you a copy.

54roundball,

Welcome to this Forum. You give sage advice. Again, welcome to this site.

Adam

Thanks Adam. Unfortunately I did not get paperwork with the rifle.

Pre-64,

I understand. Contact T/C and you will receive a fine booklet with lots of good data including loads for ball and conicals.
