Never tried pipe insulation, but made "bases" of plywood and put (drilled) holes in the side (at the bottom of the shell) to put screws in to hold the body in place. Put a piece of 2x2 underneith for a keel, and use some of that foam insulation (the stuff you shoot into walls) for extra boyancy. You could probably just glue some styrofoam to the plywood.
When you want to use them as field decoys, just remove the screws and set the bases aside.

Floaters

I bought 80 dozen shell decoys one time. We used lots of 'em as floaters by putting that gray insulation board under them and pushing nails in the spaces where the T posts went through. Only used 'em on ponds etc. And if'n the wind was blowing they would still flip over easily. But they worked and we used 'em for quite a while. Don't remember the brand.Oh..we layed 'em on the insulation board traced around 'em and then cut 'em out with a jig saw..knives what ever we could use. Floated fine. Musta looked good. Had a hunter who blasted one all to he!! one day.Hate to say it...but he WAS a Yankee

I don't know if being a Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, New England Patriot, fan is any better than being a NY Yankee fan. FYI - I'm about to rescind my NY Yankee fanship. All this steroid/HGH stuff out of their players is really pissing me off, and I really dislike A Rod. However, I think Jeter is awesome.

As hard as this is to say yes, Jeter is awesome. ARod is like Manny, as Pap described them are Cancers.

Should be a fun season in the East. Believe the Sox and Yanks are the cream of the crop with Tampa and the Jays are not too shabby. Baltimore needs some work and players.

The roids thing just isn't right. I suspect there are a few Sox players on that list which we may never see, It takes all the enjoyment out of baseball.

Doping has taken the enjoyment out of almost every sport for me. I am an avid cyclist, and watching the Tour de France makes me want to puke. The question really isn't who is going to win, but who is going to get caught doping. Football is utterly pathetic. These athletes should have to sign agreements wherein they give 3 samples. An A sample to be tested now, a B sample to be tested in 10 years when technology catches up to the current doping, and a C sample as a control. If they are caught once, they get a 2 year suspension (i.e., what cycling is doing now), and if they are caught a second time they are kicked out of the sport and not eligible for hall of fame status ever! I think the 10 year time frame will put a lot more doubt into dopers' minds when they are told "it is currently undetectable" like EPO was back in the late 90's on the "Clear" used to be. It really is a shame, but it lets me focus on my family and work instead of sports. I still race bikes, but only for fun and to hang out with a bunch of other cyclists.
