Wow, going to be an Awsome Hunting season

Got my draw results for my draws yesterday. My hunting buddy & I were surprised to find out we got drawn for everything we put in for. Either-sex moose in my local zone, anterless mulie is the same zone (mulie is earn a buck, so if we shoot 2 does we get a buck tag) and got Elk in a zone 4hrs east of me.

The moose tag is the one that really surprised us, only 30 either sex tags are available!

You have to wonder how much of that is because of the economy. I race bicycles during the summer and the number of entrants has been way down. I'm attributing that to the economy. Likewise, I bet the number of people that applied for draws is way down too because of the economy.

Congrats on the draws and good luck on the hunting.

Congrats on the draws

The number of people putting in for the draws here seemed to be up. My only chancce now is a general license for elk deer and antelope. Course I have landowner deer. I am also going to be in the store at 0800 on the 7th so I can get a cow elk tag in my chosen area. My hunting partner and I are going together. Antelope is a different story. Just have to find a place where I can hunt in an open area. I seriously know 30 people who applied in our areas and none pulled even one tag. Did have a friend get a tag in another area locally. Too many grizz and wolfies in the area he hunts. Shoot an elk and it's like ringing a dinner bell.

Fabs, up here we really haven't seen much of a slow down, its oil & farming mainly, and as long as oil is above $60/barrel, things move. I know we are insane at work still, and it don't seem to be ending.

I think the 4 tags out of 30 is really lucky...

And catfish.. I am already looking for a freezer now.. lol... but with my luck it will be like last year with a mulie buck tag.. saw tons of monsters the year before without a tag, and no good ones last year.... last season I saw several monster moose (here a monster is anything over 48 inches) and lots of cows... Hopefully I will get lucky.

Now just to put a scope on my father-in-laws 7600 .308.. already bought one rifle this year.. so can't get a new one for this hunt.
