Loads For 300 WSM
Can anybody recommend powder and amounts to use for my 300WSM? I plan to shoot 165 grain Barnes TSX bullets.

I've used H 4350 here with 165 & 180 grn bullets. It's a fine choice. The other I used was H 4895 with 150 grn bullets loaded on the light side.

In our 300 WSM with 165 gr. Barnes, we've had good success using RL19 with loads worked up to 69.5 grains at 0.050" off.

Someone else recommended RL 19. I've tried IMR4350 with decent results, but wanted some other opinions. I'll have to try the RL19, as I have some in stock.

Trapper,
I do not know where the old shortmag.com site got off to, but.... This data was what I found on that site and it is the data I use in my two 300 WSM guns today. The guns are custom rifles built on the Montana Rifle Company 1999 short action. The brass is WW nickel once fired and the primers are Fed 210. 168gr Hornady BTHPMatch VVN 560 at 74gr for 3,210 fps at .50 group at 100 OAL 3.050 180gr Sierra FBSP Pro Hunter VVN 560 at 72gr for 3,009 fps at .88 group at 100 OAL 3.070 VVN or VN 560 was the only powder I found that would duplicate the 300 WM without getting way over pressure in the 300 WSM. I took the two loads, exactly as shown, to South Africa with me. Good luck and, as always, drop down a bit and work up, especially if you are shooting a Winchester without a throat. Best, Ed

Loads for 300 WSM
My rifle is a Tikka T3. Someone else suggested 59 grains of RL15. Has anyone ever used that?

Trapper,
The reason for listing the my rifle and my OAL is that several short action guns are set up with real short box magazines, like the Winchester, with its center screw. I have no experiance with the Tikka, but you should measure your magazine and then allow at least .050 clearance for proper feeding. Best, Ed
