I was at Dick's on the first of the month getting my hunting license, and it also had a lot of ammo on the shelves. However, the prices weren't anything great. AA and Rem STS were $9.49 a box. Last I remember, they were around $5 a box. Those prices pretty much made me cringe. I remember going to the range 10 years ago and going through 10 boxes of shells a day. Now, that will cost me $100 just in ammo.

Man oh Man
9.50 a box for AAs?? That is highway robbery..Well I think it is. But then I checked the wholesale price on my 257 Weatherby mag.. Holy Sheep Sheet Batman.. Almost made me sick. I still remember the first case of 12 ga shells I ever bought. I was just 12 and they cost me 21 bucks for a 20 box case. Peters Trap Loads...paper shells. Think the ol guy that owned the gun shop felt sorry for me. Reloading them cost 38 cents a box at the time. and took a bit of time. The 600 Mec still hadn't been invented. When we shot pigeons for pay we were buying shells for 30 to 40 bucks a case. We bought 'em by the pallet loads. After AAs came out they were about 40 bucks and they were much easier to reload. It wasn't unusual to shoot 2 to 3 cases in a day for each of the shooters. We usually had 4 shooters. When you got done..you just knew you had been werkin...hard! Things seem to be loosening up a bit. Just got 5000 Rem Small rifle primers and have been getting LRifle much easier than 6 months ago. Prices are however a bit higher than a year or so ago. Oh well the price we have to pay for liberal "progress"!
