I know the feeling maineguy. I'm here in Korea close to finishing my year out. Missed fishing, hunting and camping but I'll be home in time to get my stuff together and ready for next year. Things got a little tense the other day but all in all it's been a good tour. Stay safe keep us updated on how things are going.

Do they have gazelle in Iraq? My father hunted gazelle in Iran in WWII. He liked to use a Springfield. Be careful over there and get back safely. And thanks for your service.

Hmmn stay safe out there

As to the Gazelle I doubt it as the Iraqi's probably killed them all. i would suspect it's a bit like Pakistan with hardly any wildlife left in most places

Tater. can you check out shotguns from special services? When I was in Korea at Osan, we used to go over to Suwon to hunt pheasants. it was no problem to fill up the back of a half ton Ford pick up truck with camper shell to the roof with pheasants in just a few hours. We'd have the houseboys clean them and have one hell of a Bar-B Que. On one outing I got a snow goose. It was close to Christmas so our detachment has a goose dinner for Christmas. (I shot it on the 23rd of december. Couldn't ask for better timing. Supposedly there was some hunting for IIRC, Roe Deer just about 30 miles south of the 38th parallel although I never did get up that way. I still have my Korean hunting license which IIRC cost me $5.00. This was back in 1963/64. DAMN! That was 46 years ago. Guess things have changed quite a bit since I was there. We had tensions as well, especially the day President Kennedy was shot. It was the middle of the night for use and we ended up walking the perimeter with M2 carbines and full magazines. it was a nervous night, I can tell you that. Awfully chilly too.
