I went to Vegas over Christmas to visit the son who has returned from Okinawa. When we arrived back in Florida, I wore a short sleeve shirt and a light jacket on the plane, it was 27 degrees with a 20 mph wind blowing across the airport parking lot! The followin week it was 12 degrees at the farm for a couple of days with a 20 mph wind. No wind chill numbers, just flat temps.

My dock plumbing is busted and so when it warms a bit I will get to wade out and repair some PVC pipes. Next time I will remember to drain the darned thing before I go off. I did cut the water off but did not think the pipes would freeze while we were gone. My Thai pepper plant got frost bit in the garage, so I will have to cut it back and see if it will come on. Shure would hate to loose it.
Best,
Ed

Completely snowed in here today. Has quit snowing but winds still 30-40 MPH and temps heading below zero. We still have power, but folks to the north and west of us don't. They are lookin at about a week to get it restored. Nothing going on here but surviving.

We are back to typical January temperatures and light snow in Northeast Ohio after a few days of upper 40s/near 50 and rain.

Next week I will be in Raleigh, NC for a conference for work, and I see the temps will only be in the mid-40s or so and some rain. Oh well.

I'll take the cold any day rather than fight the Florida and Texas heat and humidity. I was glad to get out of Kansas as a kid. Just too darn hot.

The older I get the more the cold effects my knees and back. I'll take that rather tan 95 and humid.

We had a early cold and snow snap in mid December. Been a little cold but no worse than normal. I believe we are ahead of the normal snow fall number. Still have about another month or so of real bad weather then it will start to warm up.

Earlier in January, I was camping up in Mid Georgia. It was 14F in my tent in the morning, and very windy.
I knew it was going to be cold, and went anyway, just to make sure I could do it, and that my gear was adequate.

I worked fine, as did the gear. HOWEVER, now that I have done it, I WON"T be gong camping again if it is below freezing.

I live about 60 mile due south of Nashville. Yesterday we got 6 inches of snow in 3 hours. I was at work when it started snowing. Finished what I was working on and left. Took just over 2 hours to make the 35 minute drive home. Many cars in ditches. Many more that should have been by the way they drive in snow and ice.

Got a lot of ice during the night, could walk on snow and not break through. (215 lbs) I dont like this kind of weather at all.

Middle Tenn does a good job on the roads but I prefer to stay home if possible.

My daughter leaves early in the morning for Camp Shelby Mississippi to see her husband before he leaves for Iraq. If she can get to Alabama she should have an easy drive.

In early January, we here in north Florida saw temps as low as fourteen degrees. Not our coldest - I recall riding my MC to school in the early 70's in 11 degrees.
Still riding, into work now. Better dressed for it though - not a problem! As long as we don't have that funky cold white stuff, I am happy.

Temps are much milder now - only in the forties last weekend when deer hunting with a buddy.

We got about 14 inches (or more) to the northeast of you in Richmond, Va and, when you factored in the wind chll. the temperature felt like it was in the single digits.
