Old and New lures!!

Hello all,
I actually started this conversation on another site with Duffy and brought it (on his recommendation) to where it belongs FISHING!!!

We were discussing old lures and since I have a small collection of fresh water tackle and some of it has some age, I thought maybe we could get some interest started in showing some favorite lures (old or new). Let's see what happens! Here's one of my oldies. And BTW if you happen to have a fishing buddy/reloader/gun nut/hunter or just a super nice person that needs a great forum bring him/her along with you we need some additional members on this Forum!! Take care and God bless. cordell

Nice collection, cordell! My wife and I haven't quite caught up to the digital age in all respects, in that we still use an old-fashioned 35mm camera. But my daughter has an inexpensive one she had to get for school, so I'll try to take a couple shots of my small collection with it and upload those images.

My dad has a few nice old lures as well, but he still has them back in PA. I'll have to grab those, too!

My Grandpa's entire tackle box looked like that. The only new tackle he ever had was fishing line and the occasional can of corn. He always caught fish with that old junk while I was getting skunked using all my new-fangled shiny junk. When he passed on a few years ago my uncle got it but he doesn't fish much anymore so I'm gonna try and get it next time I go visit. I'm sure I'll have some pictures to post

Hello Duffy and Tater,
Duffy,
The truth is I have tons of lures both old and new, and have been hoarding them for many years. I only have a handfull (25 or 30) truely old lures but I have lost count of the using "stuff" that I now have. Many years ago the count was over 500 and that didn't count the ones in tackle boxes and on rods. I should also point out that doesn't include spinner baits, spoons, spinners, flies, etc, etc.

Now I have to admit that I have a small edge over some people in the fact my Brother in Law guided professionaly and has given me many lures over the years, his stash makes mine look like a childs tackle box! Also one of the fellows I deal with at the local Flea market has "thousands" in his basement and on occasion he will bring in a handfull of lures that I just can't pass up. Looking forward to seeing your collection, I may try to take a picture of two of my standing lure boxes (after it warms up a bit)..

Tater,
I am also looking forward to seeing Grampa's lures (I am a Grampa also). And several of the newer lures (60's) that are still in boxes are ones I bought to fish with years ago and for some reason kept the boxes! As soon as warm weather gets here I am out the door with a hanfull of rods in my hand! I was introduced to pond fishing 20 years ago and am hooked for life..................My secret is, find out what they are hitting on a given day and take a rod with that lure on it. Some of the ponds I go to require 5 rods and 5 back-up lures and others take 2. I don't want to be idle so I don't switch lures in the boat I just keep a rod handy......................( I am old, what are you going to do???? ;-)..........) Take care and God bless. cordell P.S. I am sorry to hear about your Grandfather passing. TC&GB ...C
