Niece takes her first elk

My niece took her first elk two weeks ago (just received the pics). It was a nice big cow and she also made a great shot at 175 yards.

wrenchman,

She used a 6 mm and handloaded 100 gr PSP. She hit her right behind the front shoulder and the elk went about 50 yards and went down.

When they were taking care of the elk they found another bullet inside the pelvis. They also found the scar where the bullet had gone in on the right hind quarter.

Niece Takes Her First Elk

Very well done. With a 6mm? That's what my wife uses for deer. That's a real underestimated cartridge. Tell your niece congratulations!
