Minimum caliber?

Looking for opinions on minimum caliber for elk & wild boar, using patched round ball as the projectile, and over the range of said rifle (I know a .32 squirrel rifle will kill a hog with a head shot at 20 yards, but that's not always practical now, is it?)
All thoughts and opinions wanted.....thanks in advance.

....and happy memorial day to all!

Mr. 16 gauge,

I hope you have today off.

My personal minimum for boar and patched roundball would be a .50 caliber. For elk, I opt for the .54 caliber RB.

Dan,

I would not restrict myself to Rounball on either Boar or elk, If I had my druthers! As an OLD Longhunter, I would load up a Maxi .50 or .54 and be done with it!
