Handgun Maintenance 101!

I fully support the Second Amendment and truly believe honest citizens are entitled to own arms. I have run many home firearms training classes and they were well attended. I would say 99% of the guns we inspected before the classes began were not maintained at all. We cover all aspects of handgun ownership, safe storage, range time and proper cleaning at the end of the session. It seems many gun owners do not own a cleaning kit and do not have a clue about proper gun maintenance. We run monthly classes locally and are trying to help out where we perceive a need. The flip side of this subject is the guy who oils his gun and forgets to change the filter!

Gun clubs have a real nitch here to help out gun owners (especially handgun owners) who have a house gun, but are not gun club members and most have never fired their guns. Gun club outreach is a very necessary service to these citizen voters. Surprisingly, about 20% of my students began the class believing gun control is "ok". By day's end, they forgot their media-induced view of gun laws.

Every month there are better maintained firearms in my locality. We gun folks really need to spread the word everywhere we live. What are you gun club members doing?
