The Rock Island is great!

Come to the island!

I pumped 75 rounds through it in a short time. I didn't do the breath, and squeeze thing. I was just having fun (but stayed safe, and I was the only one at the range).

Just wanted to see if I would get any stovepipes, or jams. But it popped them off as I pulled the trigger.

I'll take careful steady aim next time.

Here was my target at 25 yards.

Hey Jon...Roughly what was the price range on the RIA 45? I have a local guy wants to sell one...pretty much as new...was till I shot it..case 3 mags 2 sets of grips...wood and Hogue papers and a box of ammo for 450..but I already got him down a bit on that. 400. As you said..it shoots ok.. but one mag doesn't drop free.. I have a LOT of mags though. Never seen one in a store so don't know the prices. Heck until lately I haven't bought a new gun in a Long time..specially a handgun

Skeet,

I started a biding war with three pawn/gun shops. I got the pistol w/2 mags (normally with RIA you get one). A box of ammo, for $401 out the door.

Luckily I live a few towns from a place called Bud's gun shop in Lexington KY, they are a huge internet sales place. I got a quote from them, and flowed it down to my area shops, who out bid each other.

I would get it if I was you.

Well I guess I just did alright then...

Went and bought the darn thing for 400 bucks with all the stuff and an electronic predator call that is new. Called a Phantom digital predator call. really neat call. It has 12 calls and I tried it out about 5 mins ago on mommas cat. That critter wanted to eat something. Never saw that cat get so fried. Was worth it just for the laughs I'm gonna get outta that cat. He was fired up immediately. Had the dogs barkin too.hehehehe. Might even go in the coyote shootin business. Had a fur buyer saying he wanted both yote and bobcat hides. Price is up..but back to the gun...looks ok and shoots ok and a box of ammo has to be worth 10-15 bucks so I think I did ok..the call has to be worth 50 dollars too. If it works on yotes I'll keep it..if not I'll sell it at the next gun show. have fun with your 45..they(1911s) are in my opinion one of the best..if not the best ever made

jon,

That target looks like my last #4 Buckshot target. LOL!

Actually, that is a nice target. Did you lube the slide rails? I like the .45 ACP.

Adam,

I just broke it down, cleaned it and took it and shot it.

I was trying for the 'swiss cheese' effect

A buddy had problems with two Llama .45's and then a new Springfield Armory 1911A1. He finally got an RIA and is happy. It is proving 100% reliable, and outshoots my ten year old Colt M1991A1! Excellent value for the price!

Surprized that he had problems with the Springfield 1911A1. Have a SS Loaded model that I got 5-6 yrs. ago works great. In fact so good my daughter borrowed it several years ago and has not returned it, know lotsa fellows shooting them with any problems. But the RIA and Taurus 1911s are great values and very good 1911s.

His SA would constantly lose the detent plunger tube, and simply would NOT group! My older Colt M1991A1 easily outshot it, and this old Colt is no target pistol - does 'Minute of Badguy' nicely, that's about it. The SA shot patterns....
This was a NEW pistol too, not used.
His RIA far outshoots my Colt now! And no parts pop off......

Hi Guys!,
Happy Holidays to all, just wanted to comment I have an RIA Tactical model in
45 ACP and have had it for a year now have put well over 800 rounds through it
and it has not jammed no FTF or FTE I reload also so it has been more reloads than factory ammo put through it. Very good pistol 100% reliable and accurate as well. The trigger is actually gotten lighter to the point where it is almost too light. say around 3lb pull. I also have a Taurus PT-1911 AR in stainless that with
a lasermax laser on the rail is the most accurate handgun I own. Just very tight groups at 25 yds it really shoots where your red dot is placed, Another great value in a 1911 priced under $900.00 . I love both pistols and wouldnt sell either
one! 6.5
