Savage Model 24... 12 Ga/
I didn't know for sure where to post this but since it is about a "scattergun" in part......here I is!
I didn't want to hi-jack the thread about the optics on a Savage 24 BUT, upon seeing the responses from all the "24" owners, well I figured there were enough of you to help answer my question. I have a "24V", 22 Hornet over 12 ga. My question is how does the inside of y'alls 12 ga barrel look? Mine looks like the inside of a piece of black iron pipe. Not smooth and shiney, just rough with even tool marks. Do they ALL look this way? I have attempted to clean it with brushes, Hoppe's, etc to no avail. I posted this query on the Savage 24 site ALSO to no avail. Any ideas? or ????? Thanks one and all Oh Yeah, and PLEASE go vote, one may think it doesn't count but He**, This may very well be the last time you get to!!!!(and I'm a POSITIVE thinker!) GOD Bless!!! |

The inside of my 20 ga. barrel does not looks shiny. It also seems to take longer and more effort to clean the barrel than my other shotguns. I don't, however, remember seeing any tool marks. It shoots okay and where I point it and, at least to me, that's all that matters.

Yes Sir, It patterns well with the original Modified screw-in choke that came with it as well as with a "Turkey" tube in XTra full. It just was a literal "shock" to see such a barrel on a scatter gun and, not un-like a proctologist might add....," I have looked down many a 'Bore' in my day"! Hummmmm?
Thanks for the info and Happy and Safe Hunting one and all! |
