Winter

Well winter has set into the Dakotas and it was -7 at my house this AM. I have a ton of deer tags to fill from now till the end of Jan and want to do some more bird hunting also but man my old bones don't like this at all.

Nulle, Come on. You make it sound like this never happened before. You, at Belle Fourche, and myself, at Rawlins, have had an unbelieveing long and pleasant Indian summer. I know how terrible it was back October 9 when I passed through Belle Fourche on the way to Bismark to chase pheasants. It was the same on the way back.
Right now my old bones are also complaining about the sudden start of winter. That is why we are tough old birds; all of the heating and cooling. I do hope you get those tags filled. The meat shouldn't spoil if you let it hang a few days.

Guess ya got that right. I REALLY need to warm up with somebody in Texas where I can hunt quail for a month or so or even a week would be nice.

Same thing here. However, I too know what is coming and just went out and bought a bunch of Grabber hand warmers and toe warmers and am getting ready to order new pac boots and a Mr. Buddy heater for the blind. I am way too tired of being cold.

Suppose to get 5-6"s of snow tomorrow, duck marsh long been frozen over, but upland bird seasons still open. Soon as the highs get in the 30s again will give them a whirl. Good news is have a duck hunt comeing up in SW Louisiana right after Christmas. Don't know Nulle, but as one gets older one can not tolerate the cold that much anymore.

Now have the first real snow of the year and as the highs will be in the teens next week it'll be here for awhile. Looks like 2-3"s now and still snowing. The accident rate will sky rocket as people forget from one year to the next in snow. Almost 50 yrs. ago started my Civilian LE work as a trffic officer, hated first snows.
