Saw some Krags today

They had been sporterized and were in NRA good condition. One had a 3/4" diameter scope with side mount and the other had a peep sight. Prices were high and one sold. The other is still sitting in the rack. Take care...

I did the gun show last week in Cody and there were some surplus arms there. A couple of Krags too. Prices are just unbelievable on them in fact. Surplus is getting way too spensive...but so is everything. I am in the process of buying an old Trapdoor springfield Rifle in exc condition. Has the bayonet with it. Forgot to check to see if it was serialed to the gun. Doubt it..but the gun is in approximate 95% condition and if ever shot..it doesn't show it.. Gonna pay too much cause a friend has it..but I just can't help myself.

Prices are high

A friend told me he went to a gun show last weekend and saw two Krags. One was hacked up and expensive. A original rifle in rough shape had a price tag of $1,600.00. He took one look and kept walking. All the best...

Joe,

Last Christmas I saw an ad in our weekly "Penny Saver" paper for a Krag rifle. I beat feet to the site after I phoned first to assure the rifle was still on site. It was and I got an NRA Excellent M1898 rifle for $450 with sling, bayonet and 2 boxes of factory ammo.

The deals are in the Penny Savers as old guys die off and their heirs just want the money and have no gun collector interest. It makes one wonder what will happen to our stash? Shoot 'em now as I never saw a hearse with a luggage rack!

Gil

I didn't know caskets were built as double-wides and what battalion is going to carry to gravesite. LOL

Gil,

Ya gotta be kidding us! They will have to put your casket in the cellar and bulldoze the house site. By actual count, we see you acquired 454 "hang tag" specials, to date. Ain't no grave that BIG!

I have a good friend that just gave $ 3,000 for a real nice one with the pep sight that had been sportrized. When he bought it though they throughed in another 15 or so guns and a Remington safe. Boy did he walk into one.
