Weaver rings made in China!
Are you bloody kidding me!?!?
For the first time in a while, I ran out of Weaver Top Mount rings. All my flea-market, garage sale and pawn shop discoveries ended up on a scope of mine, or of a niece or nephew. No shops in the area had any plain old Weaver top mount rings, so I went to Wally World and got the newer Quad Locks, because they didn't have any top mount either. I just opened them a few minutes ago and noticed the 'Made In China'....this is Weaver for gosh sake! Nixon should have never went, and we should have made jerky out those two pandas!

Half of everything is now made in China. I also hate to say this but the quadlocks are the best weaver type mounts they have ever had. I just noticed they were made in China myself last month when i bought 3 or 4 sets to have around. They only cost 5.99 a set. Shoulda known.. I do have 3 or 4 sets of the old style. I used Leupold on the Kimbers QRs on the 8400 300 Mag. Just put a set of Weavers on an old Rem 721 270.

I was just getting ready to say that I have three of my rifles equipped with Weaver Quad Lock rings and I also personally like them better than the older steel rings that only had the lock-down screws on one side. The old ones were difficult to get the cross hairs horizontal at times because the scope would tilt when you went to tighten up on the screws. This is not a problem with the new Quad Lock rings. I personally don't have a problem with their being made in China. Like Skeet said it's hard to find stuff these days not made in China. I like "made in USA" stuff just as well as the next guy, but there are times when you just don't have any choice.

I prefer Burris Z Rings, still made in the USA the last time I checked.

Another vote for Quad Locks
I have a bunch of them and like some others have posted prefer them to the old style Weaver rings. I work for a group of nursing homes and I had a family member get riled because the toothpaste we give to residents was made in China. I will bet that same family member then went to Wal-Mart, K-Mart or Target and just about everything in those stores was made in China. All the best...

Yeah Dovehunter, I like the Zee rings, but poverty sucks, I do have the Zee rings on my .30-06, but due to price, and the way I switch scopes, Weaver is my only solution.
Gil, you are 100% on target. I always see people in scrubs buying bulk in Wally Mart and Sam's (like we don't know who Sam is!), with a business credit card.

jon lynn,
WELCOME to the 21st Century! EVERYTHING is made by Former American Companies in CHINA! I have a DR Brush and Field Mower made in Vermont. I needed to replace two bearings on a machine I bought in 1990. I got them for $21.00 EACH and both said, "Made in China." I was billed the same as "Vermont Made", but the "China Made" at 13 cents per hour added to the Vermont Company,s "Bottom Line." Youse guys should wonder where your shoes, pants, underwear and shirts will come from if ever we get into a conflict with China. The USA has NO industrial base to cloth you. Eh, Wot? Adam

Uh, it must have been someone else who mentioned "Zee" rings. I'd never even heard of the things until you and someone else mentioned them in this thread.

There are still mount systems made in the US, but not the inexpensive stuff.
