PA Traditional Muzzleloader Deer Season.

Last Monday the Traditional ML (Flintlock) Deer Season opened here in PA. On Monday it was 6 degrees at sunup with 35 mile per hour winds for a -5 or -10 chill factor. I sat by the living room wood stove and let the wind blow.

Today it hit 33 degrees and the winds died down a lot. Tomorrow it is to hit 45 degrees and I will be Traditional Deer Hunting in PA with my trusty .54 Hawken flinter stoked with 75 grains of 3F Goex and patched Ball. We have very few PA deer, so I assume I will just trek the woods in proper attire and 'hawk on my belt. In the last 20 years of Traditional Muzzleloader deer hunting here I have never seen another Buckskinner afield.

Jack and Johnny,

Thanks for the good wishes. My dog has cabin fever and I must take her for a ride in the Polaris Ranger. I plan on hunting the late afternoon today. We still have 2-3 inches of snow on the ground and very few deer tracks.

Guys,

I hunted all yesterday (Saturday) and only saw 3 does; mama and two yearlings. They still call this old farm home. I saw all three this morning on the way to church.
