1903 Springfield
I saw a WWII rebuilt 1903 Springfield today with a hang tag price of $1,350.00. The shop owner said it was from 1942 which was the barrel fate. I pointed out that the serial number of 900,000 meant the rifle was made about 1919 and was rebarreled with an 11-42 barrel. Ironically, I bought a WWII rebuilt Rock Island 1903 for $500.00 last year. So let the buyer beware. All the best...

Gil,
Was that a Springfield or Rock Island M1903? There is a lot of Military stuff out there and SOME is original. I read all I can on the subject to be aware of stuft. I have told my heirs via Letter of Instruction what my stuff is worth as of 2011. The March 12, 2011 Gun Show has caused me to make a few updates UPWARDS! Adam

The higher priced 1903 in the shop was made by Springfield. The 1903 I bought last year was a Rock Island. All the best...

I saw the 1903 in question
I suspect at that price it will sit on the used gun rack for a long, long time. Take care...
