AR15, I took the plunge!

Finally convinced myself I 'DESERVED' to get my first AR!

Not top of the line, but I am pleased for what I got for the price. Haven't had it 24 hours, and finding ammo is already a pain in the butt!

It's a Double Star 5.56, 20"bbl, got three 30rd mags, and an attachable A2 adjustable rear site. After taxes $879....how did I do?

You did just fine

My local gun shop has brand new 20-round Bushmaster magazines marked down from $30 to $12. Let me know if you want any. Take care...

Congrats, Jon....hope it turns out to be everything you want it to be! I don't know if you got a good deal or not; I've never heard of a "double star" before.
What do you plan on doing with it.....by that I mean target shooting, plinking, hunting, ect? I took the plunge several years ago and bought a Bushmaster; mine has a 20" heavy barrel (no flash suppressor), and bought mine mainly with the idea that I would use it as a varmint rifle, with secondary usage as a SHTF rifle. Mine has the carry handle; wish I woulda got the flat top instead.
Don't know if you plan on reloading for it or not, but I've found a TON of once fired brass by visiting the local public ranges. Also, don't overlook on line sources of ammo....Natchez keeps sending me "e flyers", and more often than not they have .223 listed.
I've also seen the same thing that Joe has mentioned.....hi cap mags for the AR15 (and M1A1) coming down in price....too bad I have all that I need right now!

I don't know about double Star rifles either. I have a Flat top Bushmaster Varminter. That sucker is a better shooter than me. Mags have come down as have the price of the rifles. Saw a couple at the last gun show locally new in the box for 750 or so..Bare rifles though..2 mags

Double Star is a company out of Winchester Kentucky. One reason I selected it ,besides price, is a lot of Kentucky law enforcement are now using the Double Star brand.

I've got an older Bushmaster stright M4 carbine, just stuck a red dot on the carry handle gonna shoot it in the morning. They're a fun rifle and accurate enough for me. I am sure you will enjoy yours, but I had chaseing brass. Enjoy it and let us know how you like it.

Rear sight.....AW I messed up!

I got a rear sight for the AR, and it was boxed as UTG...................it's from Leapers................I feel so, so dirty!

Should I even use it, or should I just make it a paper weight?
