Thumbs up Shot AR today!

I finally got to shoot my new Double Star today, after a week of owning it. It is the STAR-15 RIFLE 20" A/3 with a flat top rail, and fixed front sight.

Before I discuss my shooting, please keep in mind my personal discrepancies:
1. I haven't shot an AR style rifle since 1992 in the Army.
2. I put a long eye relief scope on it, and couldn't get a decent cheek weld, but it is all I have right now. It has a German #1 Post reticle, that was a huge mistake, it was not designed for target shooting anyway.
3. I used the cheaper 5.56 62gr. LC ammo.

Okay now. I only fired about 250 rounds, to be polite and not 'hog' the range. I didn't take all the careful aim I would have if it were my bolt action deer stoppers (I know very childish)but the goose neck effect from the bad cheek weld played havoc with me. But I did the 25 yard, then 50 yard, zeroing, and then finally 100 yards.

Not once did I have any stoppage. My last three magazines were in rapid succession, and fed as well as my first magazine of the day. The factory provided from Double Star gave the best performance of the day, even better than the used Colt mags I picked up at a pawn shop.
The two 30 round Korean made magazines I purchased from Centerfire Systems worked well, but are noticeably heavier, and slicker from the glossy finish, than the DS mag.

I am sure with an appropriate scope, with a proper cheek weld and some kind of match ammo, that would easily shrink to maybe 2” @ 100 yards, even at 3.5" I would be happy, this is an AR after all.

I say the Double Star is an absolute value. I got the rifle at Centerfire for $749.99 before taxes. It is made in Winchester KY, for once I am satisfied with a rifle, and except for the scope change will do no 'tweaks'
