internet scam

Be advised that there is a fellow using the screen name M4Scout who is scamming shooter looking for brass on at least three sites that I know of. He nailed me on some .257 Robt. and .35 Whelen brass for $45.00. He's posted what he has for sale on: http://www.reloadersnest.com/ and http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.htm...f=114&t=844808 and
http://www.accurateshooter.com/forum...opic=3759723.0. So far those are the only sites he's scammed on that I know of but I'm trying to see if there are more.
Here's the rat's mug shot. http://florida.arrests.org/Arrests/John_Abene_2358939/
His home address is on the rap sheet and it is to the letter the address I sent my money order to.
I didn't get hurt real bad as $45 won't send me to the poor house but some people on other sites spend over $100 and like me got nothing.
I've bought lots of components, bullet and brass off the Internet and this is the first time I've been scammed.
Just a heads up in case you see his ad on some other site not mentioned.
Paul B.

Report it to the police. They have special divisions dealing with this stuff. An ex-girlfriend of mine's niece's boyfriend got arrested over selling playstation 3's back in the early 2000's on ebay. He collected the money and never sent the product because he didn't have the product in the first place. People like this kill me.

Be happy that he is in the US and there is legal recourse against him. I got scammed by somebody in China on some MicroSD memory and e-bay and paypal were worthless with their guarantee.

If the US Mail was involved at all, you might talk to the Post Office. They have their own enforcement people.

I agree with Jack

Since a postal money order was involved, the Postal Inspectors should be notified. Adam Helmer used to be one so he can give some input. All the best...

Once you collect money from a scam and it involves a postal money order, does it not become a Federal crime?

You can get scamed on Internet forums, and possibly on "HuntChat". You order something from a subscriber, sending them money and never getting the product. Or, you send them a product they advertise for based on an arrangement for payment if it is as described. They make excuses about the product not being what they want and then don't return it or send a check. And they don't have the decency to communicate about the problem. It happened here to me, by a moderator.

skeet, I hope you let the guy know that you were aware that he didn't send you the mould you had sent to him. Some of those guys feel you won't know the difference. You know the one I am referring to. I think it is time to send the registered letter.

Haven't done too much internet "business"; prefer face to face....but the few I have done (including this site), I have been lucky and had good outcomes. Come to think of it, I've had only one bad experience (selling shotgun barrels....if anyone wants particulars, contact me via PM) and I had to get attorneys involved.
