Earthquake on East Coast

Was listening to Rush's show (with stand in dj) and they reported that they were feeling an earthquake in New York City. The report came back that the quake was a 5.8 just south of Washington DC.

Something new and you know who was not there to enjoy it.

Update

The Drudge Report now states:

"PAIR OF RATTLERS: 5.8 quake hits W.Va.; 5.3 strikes Colorado, New Mexico"

Thats 2 in less than half and hour. Makes you wonder whats going on. And there in wrong place, should be in Martha's Vineyard.

My mistake

The one in Colorado and New Mexico was from yesterday or last night. So they were not 1/2" hour apart.

Sorry, should read deeper before opening my fingers (mouth).

bulletpusher,

At 1350 today, just before I began my meeting, the room shook enough that my Board Members all looked at each other and finally one person, said, "What was that?" I assumed I was having a stroke and others thought they were getting a heart attack. Whatever?

Never felt the quake...I was in the basement at the time. I guess the folks who felt it the strongest here in the Detroit area were up in high rises....some significant sway int he buildings.
What I did find interesting is that my one dog (black lab) kept laying under our one chair all morning long....which is odd for her, because she always lays on her dog bed which is away from the chair. I'd call her out, play with her a bit, and then she would head back under the chair, almost in a depressed manner (tail down, kind of skulking).
I've heard that animals can pick up on these natural phenomena prior to the event; don't know if it's just a weird coincidence, or if she was "tuned in".....at any rate, if she heads under the chair again, I'm gonna follow suit............

Was cranking away at the puter when the desk and screen started to move. I felt dizzy which is not un common because I have high blood pressure. Thought I might be stroking out until I looked at the lights which were swinging back and forth. We kick everybody out until be realized what it was. No damage in Boston. It was my first one.

Neither of my kids felt it. They were all outside and didn't know anything happened.

Dan and buckhunter, You are absolutely correct. The geologic experts, after serious consultation, have concluded the earthquake was due to a geologic formation named "Bush's Fault".

Given a choice between an earthquake of 5.8 and Obama, I will take the earthquake it is less destructive. Now, will Obama please leave?

We (i.e., my wife, kids, parents, and I) were out driving around in Maryland to get measured for tuxedos and to pick up some firewood. We were wondering why everybody was standing outside of office buildings. After the earthquake, the hurricane came. Maybe people will eventually figure out that they need to be prepared for natural disasters.
